Understanding the 365nm Spectrum Advantage

  • 395nm UV LEDs: Produce a strong, visible purple beam. This visible purple light washes out delicate details, making it poor for checking high-security currency features or minute fluid leaks.
  • 365nm UV LEDs (This Chip): Produce a faint, pale-white tint to the naked eye, but unleash massive excitation energy. When this beam hits an invisible security mark, passport thread, or forensic spot, it bursts into brilliant luminescence against an otherwise pitch-black background.

Critical Drivers & Safety Guidelines

  • Constant Current Driver Required: CRITICAL: Do not connect this LED directly to a 12V battery or a fixed-voltage power supply. High-power LEDs are current-driven devices that suffer from thermal runaway. As the chip warms up, its internal resistance drops, causing it to pull more current until it burns out. You must power this chip using a dedicated Constant Current LED Driver configured between 700mA and 1000mA.
  • Active Cooling/Heatsink Mandatory: A 10W LED generates an immense amount of localized heat. The 20mm aluminum star board is only a thermal spreader-it is not a standalone heatsink. You must bolt or bond the star board down to a larger aluminum block or finned heatsink using high-quality thermal paste or thermal epoxy. Running this chip for more than 5–10 seconds without an attached heatsink will permanently degrade or instantly burn out the LG emitter.
  • Invisible Radiation Shielding Warning: Because 365nm light is mostly invisible, your eyes will not naturally trigger a blink reflex when looking at it. However, the high-power radiant energy output can cause rapid cornea damage or eye strain. Never look directly at the spinning light or reflections of an active 10W UV LED. Always wear certified UV-blocking safety glasses (rated for UV400 protection) while operating or test-firing this equipment.
